Delete your North Star account

You can delete your account yourself in the app, or ask us by email if you no longer have the app. Deleting an account cannot be undone.

In the app

1. Open North Star and sign in.
2. Go to Settings › Account.
3. Tap Delete account and confirm.

The account is deleted at once, and you are signed out on every device where you were signed in.

By email, if you no longer have the app

Write to support@asknorthstar.app from the email address of the account and ask us to delete it. We may reply to that address to confirm the request is yours. We delete the account as soon as we can, and within 30 days at the latest, and tell you when it is done.

What is deleted

• Your account, with your email address and your language preference.
• All your saved conversations: your questions, the answers and their source lists.
• Your daily question counters.
• Your sign-in sessions. Every sign-in token stops working immediately.

What is kept

• Usage records without content. For every question we keep a technical record for cost accounting: the time, how long the answer took, the AI model, token counts and cost. It contains no question or answer text. When your account is deleted, these records are detached from it and can no longer be traced to your email address; they stay attached to the record of the app installation they came from.
• The app installation record. Each installation of the app has a record (platform, app version, the IP address it was first registered from, and how many questions it used before you signed in). It is detached from your account but not deleted, and the questions already used on that phone stay used, so that deleting an account does not hand out free questions again.
• Backups. Database backups are kept for 7 days. Deleted data disappears from them when they expire.
• Crash reports. They are not linked to your account, so we cannot find or delete the ones that came from your phone.

Deleting less than everything

To delete a single conversation and keep your account, open History in the app, press and hold the conversation, and choose Delete. Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account.
